Mind – Body – Spirit

We believe that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.

Stephanie’s story

At 44, Stephanie Rosendahl was starting a new life. She had recently sold her web hosting company to a Canadian firm and she was getting out of a contemptuous marriage. In an effort to keep her mind and spirit strong, she adopted a more healthy lifestyle. She was happy and her future was bright. She was starting a new life.

Then they told her she had cancer.

Next to the challenge she now faced, starting a new life seemed insignificant. The diagnosis was breast cancer, the most common type of cancer in women. If detected early, the cure rate for breast cancer is high. Like most healthy women, Stephanie displayed no warning signs. She received mammograms every year. She did not smoke. She was healthy, or so she thought.

The plan was surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation.

So what does a person do while taking chemotherapy?

While battling advanced-stage cancer, Stephanie spent her time healing and reading. It was then that she learned lung cancer is responsible for 70,000 deaths each year in the United States. After more digging, she came to understand that the emissions from coal-fired power plants are among the contributing factors to lung cancer. Then, she learned that the data center industry is the second largest contributor of carbon emissions due to coal-fired power plants in the United States (second only to the airline industry).

She had a dilemma

Since 1998, Stephanie ran a web hosting business. Web hosts use data centers. Until then, she never realized the obvious – that the industry she loved, web hosting, was a big contributor of carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants. She had a dilemma.

Then, a combination of physical conditioning and strong spirit took over. During her treatment, before her recovery, before she even knew her own fate, she created Green Host It. This marked the beginning of Stephanie’s life as an advocate for green energy.

Livestrong helped Stephanie throughout her battle. Stephanie was a frequent visitor to the Livestrong Cancer Navigation Center on 6th street in Austin, Texas. Livestrong provided information and guidance and educated Stephanie with options, what to expect and what to ask.

Stephanie’s vision for green web hosting and environmentally friendly IT has come to light. In 2014, Green Host It celebrated its four year anniversary.
