Did you know that the energy consumed by data centers has more than doubled since 2000 resulting in higher carbon emissions released into the environment?
What makes us Green?
Instead of just purchasing REC's and then telling ourselves that we have done enough, we do more to save the planet.
We're green in major ways.
- We offset our electricity usage with 100% Texas Wind Energy.
- We utilize a green data center that is TWICE as efficient as traditional data centers.
- Corporate Hybrid vehicles further demonstrate our total commitment for a cleaner environment.
- We give back to our favorite organizations: Livestrong, American Cancer Society, Homeless Coach, and the World Wildlife Fund.
- Telecommuting staff helps us to reduce our carbon footprint. Taking just one employee off the road for a year is equivalent to removing approximately 13 tons of green house gases.
Wind Power
We offset the energy that we use by investing in Texas wind power through Renewable Energy Credits (RECs).
Water Cooling System
Our green data center uses less energy — it is twice as efficient than traditional data centers due to the state-of-the-art water cooling system.

The data center utilizes high-efficiency water cooling and power systems and is twice as efficient than most data centers. We also offset 100% of our electricity usage with wind power.

- Twice the efficiency and half the amount of energy used than traditional data centers due to the modular water cooling system
- N+1 cooling and power architectures, with state-of-the-art, high-efficiency water-cooled chillers from Turbine Air Systems (TAS)
- An equipment galley, located outside of the data center floor, holds six large air-handling units and all chilled water piping. Because all water is located outside of the actual data center floor, the design eliminates the possibility of an interior water leak.
- TAS cooling system provides a modular mechanical installation. Rather than securing multiple components from a broad array of vendors, TAS manufactures an all-in-one system with a single point of contact for maintenance and service. In addition, TAS guarantees the energy efficiency specifics of its systems.
- 1.3 "co-efficiency of efficiency" ranking, which is well below the 1.6 “ideal” rating for data centers. This score, recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The Uptime Institute, measures the total power necessary to operate a data center, divided by critical power, which represents the energy required to operate its servers.

What is a data center?
A data center is an enormous storage facility that consumes incredible amounts of energy. A data center is a physical place that houses a computer network’s most critical systems, including backup power supplies, air conditioning, and security applications. Cooling a data center, as you can imagine, consumes a great deal of electricity. Each piece of equipment generates heat and must be kept cool.
Our data center is twice as efficient and uses half the energy than traditional data centers. On top of that, we have invested in wind power here in Texas. So, not only does our data center use less energy — a great deal less energy — but we also offset the energy that we use by investing in wind power.
Energy Efficient

The data center employs high-efficient, low power equipment and is a member of "The Green Grid" and the "Uptime Institute".
- Environmentally friendly technologies that target the efficiency of the data center
- 40% less energy and 50% less heat with our low voltage Intel and AMD processors
- 85% efficiency with our SuperMicro high-efficiency servers with power supplies
- Triple server density results in a reduction in the overall need for power and air in the data center.
- Highly dense, small footprint data center that is designed to maximize all facets of the data center environment
- Corporate culture that is focused on reducing all the wasted resources of a typical data center which includes space, power, and air
- Dedicated to becoming more environmentally friendly as the overall need for technology continues to rise year after year
- The Data center offers:
- Representative member of the Green Grid - furthering our commitment to environmentally friendly operations
- Representative member of the Uptime Institute, a prestigious knowledge consortium where global standards and best practices are created and delivered to maintain system uptime and availability
- State-of-the-art data center built from the ground up with the goal of being more energy efficient - provides twice the efficiency and uses half the energy of many existing data centers and it is expected that the data center will achieve a 1.3 “co-efficiency of efficiency” ranking, which is well below the 1.6 “ideal” rating.

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle in the office
- Green IT in the office with the the implementation of a VOIP hosted PBX phone system (external link), which does not have any bulky cables. Traditional phone systems utilize bulky cables, which upon retirement of the phone system, can head to the landfills. Additionally, with our VOIP phone system, Green Host It can offer the option of telecommuting to employees. Taking just one employee off the road for a year is equivalent to removing approximately 13 tons of green house gases.
- Reduced energy consumption - Utilize Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFL), that use 50-80% less energy than incandescent light bulbs
- Reduced paper consumption with the use of paperless billing
- Recycle - materials such as aluminum cans, glass, household batteries, paper, and plastic
- Corporate Hybrid vehicles further demonstrate our total commitment for a cleaner environment.
