Be sure to have a “price scanner” app installed on your iPhone so you can do a quick scan of the product prior to purchasing. Processing an order
After you have established your inventory on Amazon, you will need to pull it from your inventory and print the shipping label. Click “Buy Shipping”, enter your information such as package weight and dimensions. Choose your shipping options. Add a “delivery confirmation” for .20 because it is worth it to know that the customer received your product. Click “hide postage” because if your customer paid $3.99 for postage and you, the seller, only paid $2.53 your buyer could get mad. Double check fields that you have entered, and click “Buy shipping service”. Download the .pdf file and stick it to the package.
Packaging your product
The U.S. Postal Service will send you DVD boxes for free, then just wrap them in paper. Get brown paper bags that you can obtain from the grocery store for free. It is perfect for selling DVDs and books on Amazon.
So, you got a cancellation from a person and they sent their purchased item back. Time to issue a refund, but first ask yourself, can you charge a re-stocking fee? Amazon specifically states that you can charge up to 20% and in some cases 50% of the items cost as a restocking fee (source). This is probably helpful if you sell something like a CD or DVD that has been opened as “new” and now you can no longer sell the item for the same price. If the situation is different and you can sell the product to another consumer for the same price, then you can skip the re-stocking fee. It’s better to have a customer happy with your brand than make a few extra bucks.
